“I noticed her across the room. I don’t always get to speak with her as she is often busy so I will leave her a note. This time, my note expressed a desire to listen to and learn from her in light of the racial tensions that have come more to the forefront in our nation. As I circled back around in my visits, she saw me and turned around to wait for me. As soon as I came close, she began sharing about the stress in her life and in her work. And then she thanked me for my note and for being her chaplain.”
